Bhopal: Investigation wing of Income Tax Department conducted searches on 14 premises linked with Sugar mill director Vivek Maheshwari’s group. According to the reports, Income Tax department officials have seized documents and unaccounted cash during a search operation.
The searches were conducted in Indore, Bhopal, Hosangabad, Piparia, Bankheri, Narsinghpur and others. The premises and offices of Ramdev sugar mill were also searched. Vivek Maheshwari is a director of Ramdev sugar mill.
“The searches are being conducted to probe charges of alleged tax evasion and disproportionate assets, ” Director general investigation Rajesh Tuteja was quoted as saying by Free Press Journal.
The Maheshwari family among the major industrialist groups of the state, it owns of power generating company, sugar mill, trading companies among others.
