Baramati: Sunetra Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has been elected unopposed as the chairperson of the Malegaon Cooperative Sugar Mill, ending uncertainty over the leadership of the factory that had drawn attention in the political and cooperative circles of Baramati, Maharashtra Times reported.
The election process for the post was held on March 12, with Vaibhav Navadkar, sub-divisional officer of Baramati and the election returning officer, officially announcing her selection.
A meeting of the board of directors was held at the millтАЩs main office in the afternoon to elect the chairperson. Pawar was the only candidate to file a nomination for the post. As no other nominations were submitted, the returning officer declared her elected unopposed.
The election for the chairpersonтАЩs post was earlier scheduled for March 1, but it was postponed due to technical reasons and the absence of the returning officer. The delay had led to speculation in the taluka about the leadership of the cooperative.
The administration later rescheduled the election for March 12, and the process was completed smoothly. With PawarтАЩs unopposed election, observers say the cooperative sector in Baramati has once again reaffirmed confidence in her leadership, and the development activities of the sugar mill are expected to gain momentum.
