Uttarakhand: Demand to set up an ethanol plant in Sitarganj

Dehradun, Uttarakhand: MLA Ganesh Joshi met Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri and demanded to set up an ethanol plant in Sitarganj.

According to the news report published in Jagran.com, he met the minister on Monday in New Delhi and said that the government is trying to increase ethanol production to reduce expenditure on petrol imports and lower environmental pollution. The government has set up ethanol plants in several parts of the country. Setting up a plant in Uttarakhand will benefit the sugarcane farmers in the state and help in boosting their income.

Minister Puri assured him of considering his proposal and setting up an ethanol plant in Sitarganj.

One after another new investment is coming into the ethanol sector in the country. In the recent past, many companies had announced capital expenditure for ethanol production.

Recently government had advanced the ethanol blending target from 2030 to 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
