Raju Shetti to launch ‘missed call’ campaign to get sugarcane farmers support

Kolhapur: Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana leader Raju Shetti has planned to launch “missed call” campaign against the idea of instalment payment to sugarcane farmers.

Shetti said, “If this is implemented, farmers will be at a loss as they need FRP in one go so that they could clear the money they borrowed from banks and start preparations for next season.”

Recently, the NITI Ayog suggested that the central government schedule the payment in three installments.

“We have decided to launch a protest by asking farmers to give a missed call to a mobile number that we will activate soon. The farmers that are opposing the idea will give a missed call on the new number and the data collected through this will be submitted to the government to show that the farmers are against the installments idea”, he said.
