BKU demands compensation for crop loss and pending cane dues

Moradabad: BKU (Asli) sought compensation from the Divisional Commissioner for the crops destroyed by the rain. The farmer organisation also demanded from Majhwali sugar mill to clear the cane dues. Harpal Singh, president of the association, handed over the memorandum of their demands to the concerned officer.

The government should also take steps to speed up the payment of compensation to the cane farmers who have lost their crops during recent rain, he said.

Amid rainfall for the last few days in Moradabad of Uttar Pradesh, the farmers say that their crops have been destroyed due to waterlogging in the field.

The harvested and cut crops of the farmers, including sugarcane, have been destroyed. Farmers along with their families engage in extracting water from the fields.
