Patna: Our government is committed for the betterment of the sugarcane farmers and are taking steps in this direction, said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Since 2006-07 we are taking steps for the welfare of the cane farmers and have constantly increased prices of sugarcane, relaxed in taxes over purchase of sugarcane and in the commission of zonal Development Council, he said after taking review of the progress of the sugarcane department.
According to the media report, Nitish has asked the officials to extend subsidy on transportation to sugar mills including for Riga sugar mill for this year. He also stated that the sugar industries have been promoted to improve sugarcane production.
