UP assembly elections: Politics revolve around sugarcane payments

Shamli: The cane payment issue is taking centre stage in Uttar Pradesh as the state assembly election is around the corner.

Sugarcane Minister Suresh Rana who is contesting from Shamli in Western UP, the sugar belt of the state, said that the BJP government under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath has done more welfare for the sugarcane farmers than the previous governments.

According to NDTV, he said, “We have paid cane dues over Rs 1.5 lakh crore as against payment of Rs 55,000 crore by the BSP.”

The opposition parties in the state claim that farmers are not being paid 100 cane dues, therefore they are suffering from the financial crisis.
