Jagtial: Sugarcane farmers from various parts of Jagtial and Nizamabad districts organized a padayatra from Muthyampet in Mallapur Mandal to Nizamabad on Thursday demanding the reopening of the sugar mill located at Muthyampet in Jagtial district, reports The Hindu.
Rythu Ikya Vedika, Jagtial district, and the Rythu Joint Action Committee, Armokor division, Nizamabad district were leading the padayatra of the sugarcane farmers.
Farmers stated that their agitation is apolitical and the government should consider their long-pending demands including the revival of the sugar mill and waiver of crop loans of farmers up to Rs 1 lakh each in one go.
