Sugar output in Maharashtra is likely to set a new record due to bumper production this season. The crushing season is at its final stage and around 7 sugar mills have closed their operations.
As of March 10, 2022, total of 197 sugar mills have participated in the ongoing season and they have produced 1051.75 lakh quintal (105 lajh tonnes) sugar by crushing 1018.96 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.32 per cent.
Apart from record sugar output, the mills in the state have registered good recovery rate.
