Lucknow: The Sugar Industry and Cane Development department has so far issued 280 licenses under the new Khandsari license policy, reports UNI.
This has helped in generating direct and indirect employment opportunities for 19,264 people in this industry.
The UP government has created huge employment opportunities in the field of jaggery and the Khandsari industry by improving the existing systems, said the officials.
The changes made in the Khandsari Licensing Policy have increased the interest of people in this industry, according to the officials. They have stated that at present 170 units are operating with a total crushing capacity of 71,350 TCD.
This has provided another opportunity to the sugarcane farmers to supply their cane to the Khandsari units other than sugar mills to earn profit.
