Sao Paulo: Center-south region of Brazil recorded the crushing of 440,000 tonnes of cane in the first half of January, as per the industry group Unica.
AS per Unica, the sugar output was reported at 19,000 tonnes while the ethanol output rose by 43% year-on-year to 208.25 million liters at the end of the current cycle in Brazil.
By mid-January, only 13 planters were operating, said Unica in a report stating that three of them were still processing sugarcane while others were producing ethanol using corn as raw material.
