Uttar Pradesh : Sugarcane survey begins in Amroha; 193 teams deployed across 990 villages

Amroha: A large-scale sugarcane survey has commenced in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2025–26 crushing season. A total of 193 survey teams have been formed to carry out the work across 990 villages. Each team consists of three members and has been directed to complete the survey by June 30, reports Jagran. According to officials, the survey will be conducted directly in the fields, and after the process, farmers are advised to collect a survey slip from the team. This slip will serve as proof in case of any future discrepancies or complaints.

The government has issued new guidelines for the upcoming season’s sugarcane survey, which will now incorporate GPS-based mapping for accuracy and transparency. Before the survey teams arrive, farmers will be notified via SMS at least three days in advance. The survey policy mandates that farmers must submit a declaration form on the department’s official website specifying the area of land sown with sugarcane. Failure to do so may lead to the cancellation of their sugarcane supply agreement (commonly referred to as “satta”).

Each team will include a sugarcane supervisor, a representative from the sugar mill, and the concerned farmer. During the GPS-based survey, details of second and third ratoon crops will be recorded in the computerized cane survey register. Survey teams are also required to sign each page of this computerized patrol register to maintain accountability. District Cane Officer Manoj Kumar confirmed that the teams have been deployed and that every team will operate under the supervision of a sugarcane inspector. He also urged farmers to make sure they obtain the survey slip from the team to avoid any complications later.
