Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh: A large number of officials from the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Apolitical) reached the tehsil office to press for various demands, including the payment of pending sugarcane dues. They submitted a memorandum to SDM Vinay Kumar Singh, demanding immediate action. They warned that if the dues were not paid by May 24, they would launch an indefinite sit-in protest at the tehsil premises.
On Friday, the BKU officials stated in their memorandum that Laxmi Sugar Mill in Bilari owes Rs. 65 crore to farmers for sugarcane supplied. The delay in payment has pushed farmers into financial distress. They said that if the payments are not cleared within a week, they will begin an indefinite protest at the tehsil starting May 24.
Additionally, the farmers demanded the organization of camps to rectify errors in land records (Khataunis), where names and ownership shares have been incorrectly recorded. Other demands included the separation of tube well electricity lines in the village and more.
Among those present while submitting the memorandum were District President Satish Kumar Singh, Tehsil President Vikas Raj Singh alias Vikki Chaudhary, Division Vice President Suraj Singh, District Vice President Chaudhary Khilendra Singh, District Secretary Rajvir Singh, Division Secretary Rampal Singh, State Secretary Uday Pal Singh, and Youth District President Ankur Chaudhary, along with a large number of farmers.
