Grain-based ethanol plant inaugurated at Bharat sugar mill in Bihar

Sidhvalia: A new, advanced grain-based ethanol plant was inaugurated on Sunday at the Bharat Sugar Mill of Magadh Sugar & Energy Limited, located in the Sidhwaliya block. The inauguration began with traditional Vedic chants and prayers, marking a significant step for the facility, reported Prabhat Khabar.

The addition of this grain plant means that ethanol production will no longer rely solely on molasses, a byproduct of sugarcane. According to factory management, the plant will now also produce ethanol from grains such as maize and rice.

The new facility has the capacity to produce 80,000 liters of ethanol daily from 2,100 quintals of grain. This expansion is expected to keep the factory running smoothly throughout the year, preventing production shutdowns due to raw material shortages.

The groundbreaking ceremony for this grain plant took place in June of last year, and its construction has been completed in under a year.

Key officials, including Vikas Chandra Tyagi, Executive Chairman of the mill, and Vinod Singh, Executive Vice President attended the inauguration. Pradeep Kumar Shukla, GM of the distillery; Santosh Dubey, Technical GM; Sanjeev Sharma, Executive Vice President of the sugarcane department; Ankit Kumar, Environment Manager; Vivek Sharma, Production Manager; Rakesh Gosai, Sugar Mill Production Manager; Shashibhushan Upadhyay, Head of HR; Jaiprakash, Chief Engineer; along with Technical Managers Madhup Srivastava, Rajeevan Pillai, and Rajan Tiwari, among many other officers and employees were also present.
