The Indian indices, Sensex and Nifty, closed Tuesday’s trading session in red as the mood of investors was mixed amid global cues and many believed to have engaged in profit booking.
The recent two-day winning streak for both the Sensex and Nifty came to an end, largely due to selling pressure in the auto, IT, and FMCG sectors.
Sensex ended 624.82 points lower at 81,551.63, whereas Nifty concluded 174.95 points down at 24,826.20.
Among the Sensex companies, NTPC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, HCL Tech, Eternal, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, UltraTech Cement, Axis Bank, and Tata Motors were among those that struggled.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 455.38 points higher at 82,176.45, whereas Nifty concluded 148.00 points up at 25,001.15.
