Haridwar, Uttarakhand: Haridwar police have arrested the director of sugar Mill in connection with a land fraud case involving fake agreements worth Rs. 9 crore. The accused was arrested after an intensive investigation, reported ETV Bharat.
The matter came to light on this year, when Harsh Sharma, a resident of Hallu Majra village under Bhagwanpur police station, filed a complaint at Jhabrera police station. In his complaint, Sharma alleged that the owners and staff of sugar mill duped him of Rs 9 crore by preparing fake agreements for the sale of the mill’s land.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections and launched an investigation. Following this, the police identified and apprehended the accused.
Superintendent of Police (Rural), Shekhar Chandra Suyal, confirmed the arrest and stated: “Two months ago, we received a formal complaint. Our investigation confirmed that fake agreements were prepared to fraudulently sell the sugar mill’s land. The involvement of the mill owner and several others has also been established. Their arrests are expected soon.”
The police also suspect that other individuals played a role in creating forged land documents, and many are currently under police scrutiny.
