As digital innovation continues to reshape traditional industries, Maharashtra’s sugar sector is stepping into the future. A key seminar focused on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in sugarcane cultivation is set to take place on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI), Pune.
Organized jointly by the Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Agricultural Development Trust (ADT) Baramati, Maharashtra State Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation Ltd., and the West Indian Sugar Mills Association, the seminar aims to equip sugarcane farmers with modern AI-driven solutions to boost productivity and soil health.
The event will be graced by prominent dignitaries including Sharad Pawar, President of VSI, Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Babasaheb Patil, State Cooperation Minister, and Manikrao Kokate, State Agriculture Minister.
Also in attendance will be chairman, vice-chairman, and managing directors from sugar factories across Maharashtra, as well as top officials from district cooperative banks. These key stakeholders will engage in discussions on harnessing AI to transform sugarcane farming practices across the state.
Experts from the Artificial Intelligence Department of ADT Baramati, along with officials from VSI, will deliver detailed presentations on the practical applications of AI in sugarcane farming. The seminar will also see participation from financial institutions operating in rural sectors, highlighting a collaborative approach to technological advancement in agriculture.
Leveraging cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and others, many forward-looking sugar mills are already driving improvements in productivity, recovery rates, and ultimately, farmer incomes.
