Sensex ends 511 points lower, Nifty below 25,000 amid geopolitical worries

Indian equity indices ended on a negative note with Nifty around 25,000 on June 23 amid geopolitical worries.

Sensex ended 511.38 points lower at 81,896.79, whereas Nifty concluded 140.50 points down at 24,971.90.

Trent, Bharat Electronics, Hindalco Industries, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Infosys, L&T, Hero MotoCorp, M&M, HCL Technologies.

Indian rupee ended 16 paise lower at 86.75 per dollar on Monday versus Friday’s close of 86.59.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 1,046.30 points higher at 82,408.17, whereas Nifty concluded 319.15 points up at 25,112.40.

Mounting geopolitical tensions have cast a shadow over global financial markets as trading resumed on Monday, dampening investor sentiment and sparking volatility in Indian equities. Concerns escalated after the United States launched strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, marking a new and alarming phase in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict and sparking anxiety across global trading floors.
