Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were stable to weak

Domestic sugar prices in the major markets were reported to be steady to weak. Prices reported lower by Rs 10-20 per quintal in the major markets of North India while they were steady in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Good rainfall activity is continued over major cane growing regions of Maharashtra and Karnataka, and monsoon activity is likely to remain heavy over Uttar Pradesh as well.

M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,900 and Rs 3,960 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, and S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,700 and Rs 3,740 in Kolhapur.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $472.20 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 16.16 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 422-6 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.66000s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 86.723 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.5280 Crude WTI traded at $73.56 barrel. Sensex closed 511.38 points down at 81896.79 whereas Nifty closed 140.50 points lower at 24971.90
