Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: Deputy Sugarcane Commissioner Rajeev Rai has strongly reprimanded sugar mills that have been slow in clearing cane payment dues and warned of strict action if any diversion of payment funds is found. Rai issued the warning during the monthly sugarcane review meeting held on Tuesday at the Ganna Bhavan auditorium in Pandav Nagar, reports Live Hindustan.
He directed the defaulting sugar mills to clear all remaining cane payment dues without further delay. Taking stock of preparations for the upcoming 2025–26 crushing season, Rai also reviewed the readiness of the cane survey and area declaration programs in all districts under the division.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed mill representatives to prepare a village-wise display schedule based on the final data collected during the survey. He stressed that it is mandatory to provide farmers with accurate information regarding their cane area records.
The village-level survey and area display process, along with grievance redressal, will be conducted from July 20 to August 30.
Officials attending the review meeting included all district cane officers from the region, regional display officers, additional statistical officers, senior cane development inspectors, and representatives from sugar mills.
