The Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) has issued a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to develop a modern, state-of-the-art sugar mill in Fiji.
According to the public notice released, the proposed mill will have a daily crushing capacity of 10,000 tonnes of cane. While the advertisement does not disclose the exact location of the facility, the Fijian government has previously committed to establishing a new mill in Rakiraki.
FSC is seeking interest from qualified and experienced investors, developers, sugar technology providers, and strategic partners for the ambitious project. The aim is to attract stakeholders who can contribute to the development of a high-efficiency sugar processing complex with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation.
The proposed mill is expected to feature advanced processing lines and supporting plants designed to enhance both energy output and agricultural resilience. The facility will include core operations such as a weighbridge, pretreatment systems, crushing units, processing lines, crystallisation, drying, and packaging, according to the local media report.
Additionally, the complex will incorporate auxiliary infrastructure including a boiler house, co-generation power plant, repair workshops, laboratories, warehouses, and pumping stations.
Importantly, the plant is designed with a comprehensive by-product utilisation system. This includes the use of molasses for ethanol and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, filter mud for organic fertiliser, and bagasse for steam and electricity co-generation—underscoring the project’s commitment to circular economy principles.
FSC is encouraging prospective partners to visit the proposed site and consider joint financing models. Interested parties must submit their EOIs by September 30, 2025.
