Sao Paulo: U.S.-based ICM, Inc. has signed an agreement with FS Indústria de Etanol S.A. to design and supply equipment for a new dry-mill grain ethanol plant in Mato Grosso.
The plant, modeled after FS’s Primavera facility but with a larger nameplate capacity, will produce 540 million liters annually. Once complete, it will be FS’s fourth greenfield ethanol plant in Mato Grosso. The facility is expected to be completed in December 2026.
The project is expected to create around 600 direct jobs and 8,000 indirect jobs during construction, providing a major boost to the regional economy. Once operational, the plant will also produce 350,000 metric tons of dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS), 69,000 metric tons of corn oil, and 56,000 MWh of electricity per year, supporting both agriculture and local industries.
ICM will supply several of its proprietary technologies, including the Base Tricanter System for corn oil recovery, Selective Milling Technology for starch conversion, and Fiber Separation Technology to improve ethanol yields and feed quality. The company will also provide engineering, process design, startup services, and equipment.
This agreement extends the long-standing partnership between FS and ICM, which previously collaborated on facilities in Lucas do Rio Verde, Sorriso, and Primavera do Leste.
Matt Horsch, executive vice president of technology and operations at FS, said the new project would set a milestone for the company. “With three successful projects already behind us, we are confident this will be FS’s largest and most advanced facility yet,” he noted.
ICM president and CEO Chris Mitchell emphasized the shared vision. “This project reflects our commitment to renewable fuels, sustainable growth, and long-term economic value for Mato Grosso,” he said.
