Sensex ends 466 points lower, Nifty nears 25,200

Domestic equity benchmarks recorded steep losses on Monday, marking their second consecutive day of decline, as a sharp sell-off in IT stocks weighed heavily on the indices. Sensex ended 466.26 points lower at 82,159.97, whereas Nifty concluded 124.70 points down at 25,202.35.

Biggest Nifty losers were Tech Mahindra, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cipla, while gainers were Adani Enterprises, Bajaj Auto, Eternal, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance.

Indian rupee ended 21 paise lower at 88.31 per dollar on Monday versus Friday’s close of 88.10.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 387.73 points lower at 82,626.23, whereas Nifty concluded 96.55 points down at 25,327.05.
