Amit Shah inaugurates cooperative CBG plant with spentwash dryer & potash granulation – designed & supplied by Raj Process

A historic milestone was achieved today with the inauguration of India’s first Cooperative Compressed Biogas (CBG) Plant with a Spentwash Dryer and Potash Granulation Project, designed and supplied by Raj Process Equipments & Systems Pvt. Ltd, according to the press release.

The ceremony was led by Union Home & Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, in the presence of Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister, along with senior state leaders and dignitaries.

Amit Shah announced that the Government of India will support 15 cooperative sugar factories immediately to adopt the integrated CBG + Dryer + Potash Granulation model, citing Sahakar Maharshi Shankarrao Kolhe Sugar Factory as a role model in circular economy. He emphasized that selling CBG and potash is backed by assured buyers such as GAIL, BPCL, HPCL, IOCL, IFFCO, GSFC, and more.

Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the urgent need for every sugar factory to implement this model to reduce carbon emissions, while showcasing the CBG purification process powered by Raj Process technology. He underlined that co-products such as biofertilizer provide significant value for farmers.

Ajit Pawar explained the direct benefits to sugarcane farmers, who can now generate income from ethanol, CBG, potash, and biofertilizers. He also emphasized that, beyond spentwash and pressmud, feedstocks such as Napier grass, paddy, and other agri-waste can be used for CBG production.

Eknath Shinde linked the project to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, stressing that reduced imports of gas and potash will directly strengthen India’s economy.
