Basti: The state’s Sugarcane Committee Association submitted a memorandum to Sugar Industry and Cane Development Minister Chaudhary Laxmi Narayan, seeking solutions to various issues faced by the committees and farmers. The minister assured the delegation that the concerns raised would be reviewed and addressed promptly, reports Amar Ujala.
The memorandum called for the resumption of “Suraksha” meetings, which have been suspended since the COVID-19 period. Committee presidents told the minister that these meetings served as an important platform for conveying farmers’ problems to the department.
The association also urged that all payments be processed only with the joint signatures of committee presidents and secretaries to ensure transparency and accountability. It further demanded that sugarcane price payments be routed through the committees so that farmers receive their dues on time and in full.
The minister assured the delegation that each point in the memorandum would be examined carefully and that necessary action would be taken.
The delegation included State Sugarcane Committee Association President Sidhant Singh, Brijendra Singh, and other representatives.
