Israna: The Panipat Cooperative Sugar Mill Limited has set a target of crushing 66 lakh quintals of sugarcane for the forthcoming season, reported Amar Ujala.
The mill was originally established in 1957 and has since significantly expanded its operations, now boasting a crushing capacity of 5000 Tonnes Per Day. For the financial year 2024-25, the mill processed 62.12 lakh quintals of sugarcane. This production yielded 5.65 lakh quintals of sugar, 3.24 lakh quintals of molasses, and generated 670.03 lakh units of electricity. The mill recorded a sugar recovery rate of 9.04 percent this year, a performance noted as commendable within the state.
The mill held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday. Upon his arrival at the mill, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Virender Kumar Dahiya was welcomed by the Mill’s Managing Director, Sandeep Kumar, and Assistant Registrar, Sandeep, who presented him with a bouquet.
Deputy Commissioner Dahiya, who also serves as the Chairman of the sugar mill, announced that he would personally visit during the upcoming crushing season to inspect the mill’s operations. He praised the mill, stating, “Panipat Sugar Mill has achieved new heights through its continuous development and the trust of farmers.”
Addressing the core stakeholders, Dr. Dahiya emphasized, “Sugarcane farmers are our annadatas (food providers). Protecting their interests is the administration’s top priority. No farmer will be allowed to face any hardship. If anyone has a problem, they can contact me directly.” He added, “I am a farmer’s son myself, so I understand the struggles and hard work of farmers very well.”
Dr. Dahiya also said plans for a new 90 KLPD capacity ethanol plant to be set up in the mill’s premises. This project was initially announced by the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah. The proposed plant is expected to not only benefit local farmers but also strengthen the goal of a self-reliant India.
The Mill’s Managing Director, Sandeep Kumar, credited the farmers for the mill’s progress, stating that the administration is advancing on the path of development with their cooperation. He extended special thanks to Deputy Commissioner Dr. Dahiya, noting that under his guidance and leadership, the mill is reaching new milestones.
