Panipat, Haryana: A new ethanol plant with a capacity of 90 KLPD (kiloliters per day) will be established at the Panipat Cooperative sugar mill, District Deputy Commissioner Dr. Virendra Kumar Dahiya said while addressing farmers. He said the project will be set up with the support of the Central Government.
Dr. Dahiya stated that considering the consistent progress of the Panipat sugar mill, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently announced the establishment of this ethanol plant during a visit to Karnal.
Highlighting the mill’s achievements, the Deputy Commissioner informed that during the 2024–25 crushing season, the sugar mill operated for 136 days. During this period, 62.12 lakh quintals of sugarcane were crushed, resulting in the production of 5.65 lakh quintals of sugar. Additionally, the mill produced 3.24 lakh quintals of molasses and 670.3 lakh units of electricity, reported Dainik Bhaskar.
On this occasion, Mill Managing Director Mandeep Kumar said that the mill maintains high standards of cleanliness. Established in 1957, the Panipat Sugar mill initially had a crushing capacity of 1,250 TCD (tonnes of cane per day), which has now increased to 5,000 TCD as of 2021–22. He also highlighted significant progress in farmers’ capital contributions, noting that the cooperative belongs to the farmers, who play a vital role in its growth and success.
The mill has introduced an SMS service for farmers and inaugurated the Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen, where each farmer can get a meal for just Rs. 10.
Present at the event were Cane Manager Vinay Kumar, Assistant Registrar Sandeep Kharkhara, Rajkumar, Bhagwan Singh Gudha, Finance Manager Raveena, and Deputy Chief Engineer Ravi Mann, among other officials.
