Andhra Sugars to set up 10 TPD compressed biogas plant with a capital outlay of Rs 47 crore

The Board of Directors of The Andhra Sugars Limited has approved the establishment of a 10 TPD (Tonnes Per Day) compressed biogas (CBG) Plant at Taduvai, Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated capital outlay of Rs. 47 crore.

The decision was taken at the Board meeting held on November 5, 2025, marking a strategic move by the company toward renewable and sustainable energy initiatives. The proposed CBG plant aims to contribute to cleaner energy production and align with the Government’s efforts to promote biofuel and bioenergy energy projects.

In the same meeting, the Board also approved the permanent closure of operations of its 2.025 MW Wind Mills located at Ramagiri, Sri Satya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh. Considering the age of the Unit i.e. more than 30 years, the operations are unviable.

Andhra Sugars is a manufacturer of sugar, industrial alcohol, chlor-alkali products, aspirin, sulfuric acid, and liquid & solid propellants. It also generates power for captive use.
