Uttar Pradesh: Sugar mills must ensure timely cane payments, says minister

Hariawan, Uttar Pradesh: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has provided relief to the sugarcane farmers by increasing in the price of sugarcane, said Excise Minister Nitin Agrawal. The crushing season at the Hariawan sugar mill began on Wednesday following the minister’s inauguration of operations.

During the ceremony, the Excise Minister stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, relief has been provided to sugarcane farmers, including an increase in the price of sugarcane. He emphasized that it is the sugar mills’ responsibility to ensure that farmers are paid within the stipulated timeframe.

The mills in Hariawan, Rupapur, and Loni belong to the same group, while one is located in Bikapur. Among these, the Hariawan sugar mill began its crushing operations on Wednesday.

Marking the start of the season, the sugar mill’s COO, Ashutosh Tripathi, said that the crushing season has been started early this year. The reason for this is to allow farmers to free their fields as soon as possible for planting the next crop. He assured the Excise Minister that hundred percent of the farmers’ payments would be made on time.

District Cane Officer Nidhi Gupta, District Excise Officer KP Singh, Executive Director Roshan Lal Tamak, Unit Head Pradeep Tyagi, HR Head Alok Mishra, and Kurseli’s Principal Representative Ram Sevak, among others attended the event.
