Hariawan, Uttar Pradesh: The 2025–26 sugarcane crushing season at the DCM Shriram Sugar Mill in Hariawan began on Wednesday with a traditional ceremony. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise and Prohibition, Nitin Agrawal, along with DCM Shriram Group Executive Director Roshan Lal Tamak, performed the rituals and inaugurated the new season by placing sugarcane into the mill’s crusher, reports Live Hindustan.
District Magistrate Anunay Jha urged the mill employees to work with full dedication and ensure maximum cane procurement and timely payment to farmers. He stressed that farmers should not face any problems related to weighing, and that any complaints must be addressed on priority.
Executive Director Roshan Lal Tamak said the Hariawan unit has been assigned a target of crushing 20.5 million quintals of sugarcane this season. He appealed to farmers to continue their cooperation with the mill.
Unit Head Pradeep Tyagi said that indents would be sent to farmers on time to ensure smooth cane supply and transparent weighing. He added that regular inspections would be conducted at weighing centers to maintain fairness.
District Cane Officer Nidhi Gupta, unit heads of Loni, Ajbapur, and Rupapur sugar mills, officials from various departments, village heads, and hundreds of farmers from nearby areas attended the event.
