Chandrapur (Maharashtra): In a shocking incident late Wednesday evening, a massive fire broke out at the ethanol plant, located near Udapur village on the Bramhapuri-Borgaon route. The blaze, which originated in the company’s distillation plant, engulfed around 125,000 liters of ethanol.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, according to Navbharat. However, some nearby houses sustained damage due to the fire. The exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Fire brigade units from Bramhapuri, Nagbhid, Sindewahi, Mul, and two locations in Gadchiroli responded promptly, along with additional reinforcements from other areas. Two specialized fire tenders equipped with foam solution were also dispatched from Chandrapur Municipal Corporation to tackle the flames.
The ethanol plant had been functioning smoothly until around 5 PM on Wednesday when a massive explosion shook the premises. Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion was so intense it could be heard across three neighboring villages, spreading panic among local residents.
Bramhapuri police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Local officials, including Tehsildar Satish Masal, and representatives from various organizations also reached the site to assist in controlling the situation.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage. No official estimates of the financial loss have been released yet.
