Afghanistan and Iran to establish joint agricultural company focused on cultivation of sugar beet and oilseeds

Gholam Hossein Mozaffari, Governor of Iran’s Khorasan Razavi Province, announced plans to create a joint agricultural company with Afghanistan that will focus on cultivating sugar beet and oilseeds.

Mozaffari said the initiative would bring together manufacturing facilities, consulting firms, and private sector investment, enabling both countries to secure key agricultural supplies, according to the local media.

Noor Ahmad Islam Jar, Governor of Herat, underscored Afghanistan’s capacity in fish, honey, and other agricultural goods, urging stronger regional cooperation and expanded bilateral trade.

Islam Jar stressed the value of regional collaboration, saying: “The world often tries to create fear and distance between neighbors to exploit the situation, but we aim to unite, strengthen our ties, and expand trade.”

He added that deeper economic cooperation, especially in agriculture and related industries, could promote balanced growth, build mutual trust, and support sustainable development for both nations.
