Triveni Engineering advancing sugarcane farming by integrating digital intelligence into every stage of crop cycle

As India’s sugar sector embraces a new era of innovation and sustainability, Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd (TEIL) is emerging as a key catalyst in reshaping how sugarcane is cultivated. With a network of over 3.6 lakh growers, the company is strengthening agricultural ecosystems by combining knowledge-building, digital empowerment and advanced agronomy, ensuring farmers are equipped to achieve higher productivity, improved soil health and long-term prosperity.

Triveni’s sugarcane programme is pivotal to its sustainable growth strategy. The Company has in place a comprehensive sugarcane development programme, through which it continuously engages with farmers to increase sugarcane productivity. Its dedicated sugarcane development team works closely with the farmers, disseminating knowledge on new technologies and innovations in the field of agriculture in general and sugarcane in particular. The Company has been relentlessly pursuing a six-pronged strategy, aimed at the development of improved planting, cultivation, crop protection and harvesting techniques. The strategy also seeks to boost the crop quality and land productivity, resulting in enhanced income in the hands of farmers.

Speaking about how company is training farmers in regenerative and sustainable sugarcane farming, Tarun Sawhney, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, TEIL, said: “At TEIL, we empower our network of over 3.6 lakh farmers with better practices, technology, and enhanced livelihoods. Through our Farmer Outreach Programme, we provide structured training to build farmer capacity in sustainable and efficient farming. We train farmers in high-yielding and high-sugared cane varieties, balanced irrigation techniques and environmentally conscious cultivation. Demonstration plots and expert-led training further support the adoption of modern agronomic methods such as trench planting, ratoon management and biological crop protection. Our Digital Board further delivers training on plantation techniques, crop cycles, market information, precision farming methods and resource optimisation.”

“We are also advancing sugarcane farming by integrating digital intelligence into every stage of the crop cycle. We are deploying AI/ML, IoT and satellite-based tools, supported by GPS-enabled monitoring that provides farmers with real-time insights on weather, disease, and other matters. Satellite mapping and drone based chemical spraying technologies are employed for effective disease management, while the Triveni Cane App, our dedicated Cane Development Portal and Mobile App, delivers timely agro-advisory, weather alerts and rapid issue resolution, giving farmers stronger control over decisions that impact yield and sustainability. These efforts are collectively building regenerative, future-ready sugarcane ecosystems,” he further added.
