Meerut: The District Magistrate on Tuesday reviewed pending sugarcane payments owed by sugar mills for the 2025–26 crushing season, expressing strong displeasure over the dues at Kinauni sugar mill, Dainik Bhaskar reported.
He directed the mill’s management to clear all outstanding sugarcane payments and contributions within a week. He warned that failure to comply would lead to further action, including instructing the District Cane Officer to prepare a proposal to divert crush-ready sugarcane from the mill’s command area to other mills in Meerut and recommend issuing recovery certificates.
During the meeting, the general manager of Mohiuddinpur Sugar Mill was also ordered to immediately settle pending sugarcane payments and contributions for the 2025–26 season. Similarly, a representative of Simbhaoli Sugar Mill was directed to clear outstanding dues for sugarcane purchased from Meerut cane societies under the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons without delay.
In addition, representatives of sugar mills in the district were asked to provide details of funds spent under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) over the past three years.
The review meeting was attended by the District Cane Officer of Meerut and senior officials from the concerned sugar mills.
