Brazil sugar exports jump 44% in early February

Brazil’s sugar exports gained strong momentum in early February, with shipments rising sharply even as global prices came under pressure, official trade data showed, Datamarket News reported.

Figures from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, through its Secretariat of Foreign Trade, show that the daily average shipments were 44 per cent higher than in February 2025. Data compiled by Datamar’s Business Intelligence department also indicates that Brazil exported more than 31 million tonnes of sugar in 2025.

In February 2025, the country shipped an average of 91,257.5 tonnes per day, reaching a total of 1,825,149.7 tonnes over 20 business days. In the first ten business days of February 2026, the daily average climbed to 131,384.7 tonnes. During this period, total exports of sugar and molasses amounted to 1,313,847.3 tonnes.

While export volumes have grown, prices have declined compared to last year. The average price per tonne fell by 22.6 per cent, from 477.8 dollars in February 2025 to 370.1 dollars this month.

Despite lower prices, the higher shipment levels helped increase daily export earnings. Average daily revenue rose by 11.5 per cent, from 43.607 million dollars to 48.624 million dollars. Total export earnings in the first ten business days of February 2026 reached 486.238 million dollars. By comparison, total revenue for the entire month of February 2025 was 872.146 million dollars.
