Sensex down 1,300 points; Nifty closes below 23,900

Indian benchmark indices declined on March 11, with the Sensex losing 1,342.27 points and the Nifty falling by 394.75 points.

The BSE Sensex closed at 76,863.71, while the Nifty 50 ended at 23,866.85.

Top Nifty losers included Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Eicher Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. Gainers included Wipro, Jio Financial Services, Coal India, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

The Indian rupee closed at 92.03 against the US dollar on Wednesday, compared with the previous close of 91.80.

In the previous trading session, the Sensex had settled at 78,205.98, while the Nifty closed at 24,261.60.
