Indian benchmark indices surged on March 16, with the Sensex gaining 938.93 points and the Nifty rising 257.70 points.
The BSE Sensex closed at 75,502.85, while the Nifty 50 ended at 23,408.80.
Top Nifty gainers were M&M, Grasim Industries, Trent, UltraTech Cement and Bajaj Finance while the losers included Bharat Electronics, Wipro, Max Healthcare, Sun Pharma, Coal India.
The Indian rupee closed at 92.42 against the US dollar on Monday, compared with the previous close of 92.45.
In the previous trading session, the Sensex had settled at 74,563.92, while the Nifty closed at 23,151.10.
