In a strong criticism, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday targeted the state’s ruling party, blaming it for the severe financial problems facing Uttar Pradesh’s sugar mills, reports The Statesman.
In a message shared on his WhatsApp channel, Yadav insisted that the money owed to sugarcane growers must be paid at once, with extra charges for the delay. He also condemned the ruling party for what he called policies that work against the people who farm the land.
He wrote, “Because of the ruling party’s involvement in corrupt activities, the sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh are being crushed completely. Can a thriving economy be built if the state’s mills go broke and its businesses keep shutting down?”
He firmly stated, “The farmers must receive the money they are owed right away, plus an additional payment for the delay.”
