Amroha: BKU demands sugar mills start operations in October

Hasanpur (Amroha), Uttar Pradesh: The members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait faction) have demanded the starting of sugar mills in October. The demand was made during the the monthly meeting of office-bearers of the BKU that was held on Thursday at the Mandi Samiti premises. Discussions focused on the pressing issues faced by farmers, reported Live Hindustan.

Block President Kale Singh demanded that the sugarcane price to be increased, considering production costs, and called for sugar mills to be operational during October.

Tehsil President Thakur Mahesh Singh informed members that organization leader Rakesh Tikait will visit Gajroula on October 13 and appealed to farmers to attend in large numbers. He also announced plans for a protest at the Collectorate on October 17 and a tehsil-level meeting at Kalakhera Sugar Mill on October 25.

The meeting was chaired by Rohtas Singh and attended by members including Vrit Pal Singh, Dharmendra Singh, Rajeev Chaudhary, Anandpal Singh, Mahesh Thakur, Sanjeev Balyan, Shishpal Singh, Kunwarpal Singh, Ranveer Fauji, and Mahendra Singh.
