Amroha: Farmers from more than half a dozen villages have submitted a memorandum to the District Cane Officer (DCO) demanding that their sugarcane purchase center not be changed. They said they wish to continue supplying their sugarcane to the Wave Sugar Mill in Dhanaura, but there were talks of reallocating their purchase center to other sugar mills, reported Amar Ujala.
With the cane policy now in effect, the process of allotting purchase centers has begun. Both sugar mills and farmers have started lobbying to secure their interests. On Saturday, residents of villages including Gajasthal, Munawwarpur, Dehra, Najarpur Kala, Tajpur, and Badshahpur gathered and met DCO Manoj Kumar.
The farmers pointed out that their current purchase center is allotted to Wave Sugar Mill, but some people were attempting to shift it from Dhanaura Sugar Mill to Chhangipur Sugar Mill. They stressed that all farmers were satisfied with the Wave Sugar Mill purchase center and did not want any change.
Those who submitted the memorandum included Ravi Yadav, Surendra Singh (village head), Sarvesh Singh, Kailash Singh, Vijay Singh, Dori Singh, Narendra Singh, Rajendra Singh, Ajay Singh, and Jitendra Singh among others.
