Amroha: Officials inspect sugarcane crops damaged due to rainfall

District Cane Officer

Amroha: With the Ganga river flowing above normal levels, around 3,500 hectares of sugarcane fields in the district have been affected. District Cane Officer (DCO) Manoj Kumar, along with departmental and sugar mill officials, inspected the flood-hit areas near the river and reviewed the condition of the crops, reported Live Hindustan.

During the visit, farmers were advised on ways to protect their crops from flood damage. In fields with minimal waterlogging, the team suggested timely tying of the sugarcane plants with the help of sugar mills, and once the water recedes, spraying a mixture of one litre of carbendazim or thiophanate methyl and five kilograms of NPK fertiliser dissolved in 800–1,000 litres of water. This, they said, would help the plants recover, boost growth, and prevent fungal infections caused by the flood.

To support flood-affected farmers, a control room has been set up and a helpline number — 7078677200 — has been issued.

The DCO said that on Tuesday, inspections were carried out in flood-affected villages under the Ganna Vikas Parishad in Amroha, Hasanpur-Gajraula, Chandanpur, and Mandi Dhanaura areas. He added that so far, the sugarcane crop in the region has not suffered any significant damage.
