Andhra Pradesh: Lok Satta Party demands reopening of Bhimasingi sugar factory

Lok Satta Party State President Bhisetti Babji on Monday urged the government to take immediate action to reopen the Bhimasingi sugar factory.

Describing it as the only cooperative-sector sugar factory in the state Babji, along with party members, staged a protest near the factory premises. He emphasized that reviving the facility with modern technology would benefit thousands of sugarcane farmers in the district. Additionally, he noted that the factory’s reopening could provide direct employment to nearly 500 individuals and boost economic activity across several villages in the Jami and Gantyada mandals.

Babji further alleged that the government had failed to settle provident fund dues, gratuity, and other statutory benefits owed to workers who lost their jobs when the factory shut down five years ago. He pointed out that many of these former employees are struggling financially due to the non-payment of retirement benefits guaranteed under labour laws.
