As many as 60 thousand sugarcane farmers will sell their cane using a digital system and get payments through TallyPay digital wallets.
An agreement in this regard was signed by Chowdhury Rahul Ameen Kaiser, secretary of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC), Dr Shahadat Khan, chairman of OSV Bangladesh Ltd, and Md Abu Taleb, a chief business officer of Progoti Systems Limited (PSL).
The sugarcane growers will get digital wallet service from PSL and the software for E-gazette and e-purjee management system (EGPMS) will be provided by OSV.
PSL will use the TallyPay wallet to pay farmers their cane bills digitally.
Md Arifur Rahman Apur, BSFIC Chairman said, “This will simplify the operations and will help increase transparency and productivity of sugar mills.”
Both farmers and millers will be aware of the real-time progress, said Khandakar Azim Ahmed, direct (Finance), BSFIC.
