Madhubani: Taking a step forward towards setting up the proposed cooperative sugar mill in Sakri in Bihar’s Madhubani district, officials conducted a detailed review of the site on Wednesday, Aaj Tak reported.
Dr R B Dole, Chief Cane Advisor, and K M Choudhary, Technical Advisor, from the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Ltd, visited the proposed location to assess its suitability for the project. The team examined several aspects, including land conditions, road access, availability of water and electricity, sugarcane production in the surrounding areas, and transport facilities. The inspection is part of the preparation of a feasibility report and a detailed project report.
Following the site visit, the experts held discussions with local sugarcane farmers. During the interaction, farmers raised concerns related to crop production, marketing challenges, fair pricing, transport facilities, and the expected benefits of the new mill. The officials assured them that the proposed cooperative sugar mill would help secure better returns for their produce and generate employment opportunities in the region. They said the project would also support local economic growth and encourage agriculture-based industries.
The district cooperative officer and the district cane officer were present during the inspection. They provided information about the current status of sugarcane production in the district, its future potential, and the need for a cooperative sugar mill.
If established, the proposed unit is expected to benefit farmers in Sakri and nearby areas directly and contribute to regional development by linking agriculture, industry, and the cooperative sector.
