Bihar: Gopalganj DM orders speedy implementation of cane development schemes

Gopalganj: District Magistrate Pawan Kumar Sinha has directed officials to speed up sugarcane development programmes, taking a firm stand over delays in their implementation, Bhaskar reported.

At a review meeting held on Thursday at the district headquarters, he assessed the progress of various schemes and asked officials to ensure that targets are met without delay. Representatives from Bharat Sugar Mill Sidhwalia and Vishnu Sugar Mill Gopalganj, along with department officials, were present.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate expressed concern over the performance of Vishnu Sugar Mill, noting that its financial progress was below expectations. He warned that negligence in programmes linked to farmers would not be accepted and asked all agencies to work with greater responsibility.

He reviewed key initiatives such as seed production, certified seed distribution, bud chip demonstrations and mechanisation, and instructed officials to speed up their execution so that more farmers can benefit and sugarcane output in the district improves.

Sinha said several government schemes are aimed at increasing farmers’ income and stressed that it is the administration’s duty to ensure these benefits reach them on time. He also asked officials to stay in regular contact with farmers and resolve their issues on priority.

Emphasising coordination, he said sugar mills and department officials must work together closely to ensure effective implementation of all programmes.
