Bihar government’s decision to revive Rayam sugar mill welcomed by MLA Murari Mohan Jha

Darbhanga, Bihar: Local legislator Dr. Murari Mohan Jha has welcomed the Bihar government’s decision to revive the long-defunct Rayam sugar mill, calling it a major step toward economic development in the region. He said the reopening of the mill would not only benefit Keoti but would also create widespread employment opportunities across the Mithilanchal region while boosting farmers’ income.

Dr. Jha congratulated State Cooperative Minister Dr. Pramod Chandravanshi for the initiative and noted that efforts to revive the mill had been ongoing for several years. He said he had repeatedly raised the issue on the floor of the Bihar Legislative Assembly through questions and had also informed the Chief Minister and concerned departmental ministers through official correspondence.

“These sustained efforts have now borne fruit,” Dr. Jha said, adding that the concerned department has prepared a comprehensive plan to restart the sugar mill. He expressed confidence that the proposal would soon receive cabinet approval.

According to the MLA, once approved, the mill will be operated through cooperative societies to ensure transparency and effective management. He emphasized that the cooperative model would safeguard farmers’ interests and strengthen the local economy.
The revival of the Rayam Sugar Mill is expected to provide a significant boost to sugarcane growers, generate direct and indirect employment, and contribute to the overall industrial revival of the Mithilanchal region.
