Patna, Bihar: Sugar Cane Industry Minister Krishnanandan Paswan on Tuesday directed sugar mills and departmental officials to ensure that farmers are paid on time and that all related surveys are completed within set deadlines. He warned that any delay or negligence would lead to strict action from the department.
The minister issued the warning during a review meeting of the Sugar Cane Industry Department held at Vikas Bhawan. He also encouraged sugar mills to take their corporate social responsibility (CSR) seriously and actively support local development efforts.
The meeting also reviewed progress on several key government schemes, including the Mukhyamantri Ganna Vikas Yojana, Ganna Yantrikaran Yojana, and Bihar Gur Protsahan Yojana, with an emphasis on speeding up implementation and improving impact.
Sugar Cane Industry Secretary Kartikey Dhanji called for the use of modern technologies in the sector. “Setting up tissue culture labs and adopting new innovations will play a major role in strengthening agriculture-based industries,” he said.
He also announced that new incentive schemes would soon be introduced to support both farmers and sugar mill owners.
The meeting was attended by Sugar Cane Commissioner Anil Kumar Jha, Joint Commissioner J.P.N. Singh, senior departmental officials, and representatives from sugar mills in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh involved in cane procurement.
