Bihar: Narkatiaganj sugar mill starts 2025–26 crushing season

The 2025–26 sugarcane crushing season has begun at the Narkatiaganj sugar mill in West Champaran, Bihar. This year, the mill has set an ambitious target of crushing 1.10 crore quintals of sugarcane. The New Swadeshi Sugar Mill formally launched the season with traditional rituals and prayers, reported Zee News.

Executive President Ravindra Tiwari said the mill aims to offer better facilities to farmers this year. He added that farmers will also receive support for adopting modern farming practices along with various incentive schemes.

Tiwari said farmers will be informed through SMS before delivering their cane, as a digital system has been implemented for smooth coordination. He added that cane from “Khunti” growers will be given priority during crushing. Farmers Rajesh Pandey and Sudhir Mishra said the mill has made improved arrangements for growers this season.

They added that slips will be issued to farmers on time based on a fixed calendar. This year, the payment system has been organised to suit farmers’ needs, and delays will not be allowed. Farmers have also been provided high-quality, disease-free seeds for the next crop, along with guidance on the use of farm equipment, fertilisers, and bio-compost.
