Champaran: Sugarcane crushing at the Ramnagar and Bagaha sugar mills will start from Wednesday, 26 November 2025. Both mills have completed preparations for the crushing season and for cane supply. According to a notice issued by Harinagar (Ramnagar) Sugar Mill Limited, all seasonal employees have been instructed to report to their duties on the scheduled date so that crushing can begin on time. Tirupati Sugars Limited, Bagaha, has also announced the start of the crushing season and directed its workers to be present on time, reports News 18.
At the Bagaha mill, crushing will begin at 8 am on 26 November, while cane procurement will start a day earlier, on 25 November. As before, farmers will receive an SMS on their registered mobile number with the purchase slip for cane supply. Cane weighing will take place only on the day the message is sent. In special circumstances, the slip will remain valid for up to 72 hours from the time of issue. Only the variety mentioned in the slip will be accepted for procurement.
The mill administration has urged farmers not to start cutting cane without receiving the SMS. Farmers have also been asked to first supply ratoon (khunti) cane and then begin cutting plant (morhan) cane from 15 January. After the mills announced the crushing dates, farmers expressed happiness as they had been waiting for the start of operations for a long time.
West Champaran district is known as a hub of sugarcane cultivation. Sugarcane is grown on a large scale in almost all 18 blocks of the district. Once the crop is ready and demand from the mills picks up, it gives farmers significant financial support.
