Bijnor: Kisan cooperative sugar mill gears up for expansion

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: A team from the National Cooperative Federation, New Delhi, visited the Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mills Ltd. on Sneh Road, Najibabad, to inspect the proposed expansion of the mill, reported Live Hindustan.

On Wednesday, in the presence of the mill’s General Manager, the Federation’s officials, jointly toured the mill gate and external cane collection centers in Subhalkhedi, Kabadiwala, Parvatpur, Kandawala, and Natthawali villages.

During the visit, farmers were advised to drain excess water from their fields if waterlogging occurred.

Officials noted that the mill’s expansion would require a budget of around Rs. 40 crore, with plans to replace the boiler and turbine. After the upgrade, the mill’s crushing capacity is expected to increase from 30,000 quintals per day to 50,000 quintals per day.

The team found other sugarcane varieties in the region to be in good condition, with no significant signs of disease or pest attacks in the current crop within the mill’s operational area. Discussions were also held with members and representatives of the mill committee, who confirmed that farmers in the area had not reported any serious issues related to red rot or pest infestations in their sugarcane crop.
